Goth Goes Celeb

OK - I don't set out to impress. Don't do ironing at all. I can give you Gothic quotes though - all true and verifiable:-

-> Neil Kinnock (Politwatan) - "Yes I'm Welsh too but I'm not a twat"
-> Tony Blair (Better Politwatan) - "You're like a teletubbie"
-> Billie Joe (Green Day) - "You look taller on TV"
-> Gary Rhodes (Chef) - "Fuck, your hair does that on it's own?"
-> Sven Ericcson (Football doofer) - "Can I have my pen back now?"
-> Ulrika Johnson (Celebrity bint) - "I used to have spots too...."
-> Mike Peters (Alarm) - "I didn't know she was your girlfriend"

OK - The story. I had tickets to see The Mission - thought they'd split up but, I was wrong (does happen some times). So I have 2 tickets to see the band live in Munich, which is where I was working - except the company wanted to send me to Belgium to do boring computer stuff. "Fine" I said "But on Thursday, I fly back because I've been waiting 15 fucking years to see this band".

So, with everything agreed, I went to Belgium and on the Thursday returned to Zav (airport) watching the delays again! Eventually, I get my flight and arrive at JS airport with 40 minutes to spare. There is no way that I can get to Kunstpark Ost (where the gig is) via the S-Bahn. I asked the first taxi driver to get me there as fast as possible and fuck the expense.

5 minutes to spare and I get there in time. I purchase a beer and then go to look at the T-shirts - have to get a souveneir right?! So, as I'm talking to the girl, she says "My boyfriends a guitarist" - to which I replied "He's pretty good". "How would you know that?" she said. Confused and slightly pissed I said "Because I'm a guitarist too".

"But he's not on yet, he's with the Mission".

The penny dropped so slowly that Stevie Wonder could have caught it. "OK" I said "More beer, fancy one?". She did and we talked a lot. She said "Would you like to come to the backstage party?". FUCKING DUH

A short while later, we were walking down corridors, through doors, more corridors, more doors and then...

Wayne Hussey, lead singer of the Mission is in front of me. I tried to think of something clever to say but my mouth got there first. "Fuck me backwards with a pitchfork" I burbled. He put aside the bottle of red wine he was sipping, looked at me over his sunglasses and announced "You're not from round here are you?". "Well, fucking duh" my mouth said before my brain had a chance to intervene.

To cut a long story short, I spent the whole evening and morning drinking free alcohol. Whatever they put in front of me. "Yeah yeah, I'll show you round Munich an ja, ich spreche Deutsch" Much, much, later as I sat at the airport I was trying to concoct reasons why I had the autograph of my ex-goths favourite person and why I had been in a completely different country. "Well, I was just passing and...".

Shit didn't work but Mini-Goth thought it was funny as fuck. He still has the Belgian Franc autographed, framed and on his wall.
