(Big Blogger goes global. Next week will be travelogue city, so get used to this... BB)
After a day and a half of sailing out of Gdansk, we stopped in Estonia today for a much too short visit to the charming medieval town of Tallinn. While the cobblestone streets make for rubbish rollerblading, it really is a fantastic place to visit. I'd like to come back for a long weekend and really get to take advantage of the museums, shops and sidewalk cafes. Not to mention the cheap beer.
Managed to pick up two new hand-blown martini glasses from a local craftsman to add to my stemware collection. Very cool.
We arrive in St. Petersburg tomorrow for a 36-hour stay. Planning to try to squeeze in a few sights at the Hermitage, see where Rasputin didn't die a few times, go to Catherine's palace as well as see the fountains of Peterhof. What's this about a chapel of spilled blood?
My cold has taken a turn for the worse and it now hurts in my back when I cough. But what's touch of pneumonia when you've got the chance to visit Russia for the first time? One of the Dublin boys on the boat was Liza Minelli's pharmacist, and he gave me some tablets to clear things up. We'll see. Either my cough will go away or I'll soon be having a hip replacemeent. There I go, seeing the good again.

Right you are - see you in St Petersburg then. I'll be by the top bar in the Par.spb (just off Aleksandrovskiy Park) drinking a large Mule and wearing a purple fedora...
